Perrysburg Twp. will build $3.7 million administration building
The Perrysburg Township trustees have hired Rudolph-Libbe Inc. of Walbridge, Ohio, to lead construction on the new $3.7 million administration building. At Wednesday’s meeting, the trustees voted to approve the hiring. Trustee Joe Schaller, whose brother works for Rudolph-Libbe, abstained. “We’ve punted for years and years on this,” said Trustee Bob Mack. “I think it’s time — especially with the COVD-ARPA funding, use it or lose it — I think it’s time to transform the way the township presents itself.” The trustees will use $1.2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds for the project.

Families enjoy Whitehouse Cherry Fest parade, festivities
Crowds lined up on either side of the street on Saturday in Whitehouse to partake in the 41st Cherry Fest and the crowning event of the fest, the parade, featuring 54 separate entries. The three-day Cherry Fest excursion began Thursday night, featuring bands, vendors, and carnival rides. For most in attendance, the Cherry Fest has less to do with cherries and more to do with time spent with family. Seventeen-year-old rising senior at Springfield High School, Braden Carter, summarized his participation in the parade while he practiced drills for the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, “I just woke up, and my dad’s like, ‘I need your help,’ and I’m like, ‘I got you.’”
Hancock Historical Museum celebrating Findlay's 50th year with the name "Flag City, USA"
FINDLAY, OH (WLIO) - Findlay is celebrating the 50th anniversary of receiving the name "Flag City." Families spent Sunday afternoon at the Hancock Historical Museum's free event learning about the American flag. Children could participate in patriotic crafts and take home a free book. For the next several weeks, there will also be a temporary display about the history of Findlay in the decades since the city got the nickname, and there are also Civil War-era flags on permanent display.
Bowling Green paving project ramps up starting Monday
BOWLING GREEN — Paving in the city using American Rescue Plan Act funds is continuing. Contractors have removed and replaced curb ramps along Pearl Street. Starting Monday, contractors will mill and pave Pearl Street between Wintergarden Road and Church Street. Sand Ridge Road will be milled and paved from Wintergarden to Main Street following the completion of the Pearl work. This schedule is dependent on weather and progress of work. Lane restrictions and closures at intersections will be necessary as this work progresses.

BOWLING GREEN — For the second consecutive year, Bowling Green State University will host the American Legion Auxiliary Buckeye Girls State June 9-15, educating rising high school seniors from across Ohio about city, county, and state government. Buckeye Girls State educates high school students on the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship. During their time on campus, delegates will attend government workshops, take part in legislative sessions, and learn about campaigning, party rallies, debating, and voting. One of the largest Girls State programs in the country, 500 high school delegates and staff members will stay on campus. Delegates are selected by American Legion Auxiliary units based on their leadership qualities, academic achievements, and interest in government and current events.
