Fairfield Teachers' Union and Board of Education Remain at Impasse Over Contract
FAIRFIELD, NJ -- In the midst of teacher contract negotiations, the Fairfield Education Association (FEA) teachers’ union and the Fairfield Board of Education (BOE) are at an impasse. Board member Joe Fede said at Thursday’s BOE meeting that money isn’t the issue with the impasse, but he did not say what it was. Fede is not on the negotiation team. Governor Livingston High School Class of 2024 Graduates
The Governor Livingston High School Class of 2024 graduated on Frey Field at the high school on Friday, June 14. Although a few drizzles mixed with the sun shining down on the seniors, parents, staff and attendees, the gusty wind and thunderstorms held off until the ceremony was done. In case of early storms, the program of the ceremony was amended to start with the receiving of diplomas followed by the speeches. Speakers included senior class president Jack Wargaski, Vibhav Chaturvedi, Board of Education President Gale Bradford and Robert B. Nixon, Principal and Interim Superintendent of the high school. Linden Public Schools Welcomes Three New Head Coaches to the Athletic Department
Linden, NJ-At the last Linden Board of Education Meeting, they voted and approved three new head coaches to the Athletic Department. Rebecca Rotola, Mike Rice, and Tamecka Dixon. Rebecca Rotola: Head Swim Coach. Rebecca was an assistant coach for the program. She also coaches girls volleyball in the spring. MKA Celebrates Class of 2024 at 50th Commencement Ceremony
Montclair Kimberley Academy graduated 108 students during its Commencement on Saturday, June 8 in an outdoor ceremony on Van Brunt Field in Montclair. The Class of 2024 was celebrated as the 50th class that graduated from MKA, the product of the merger of Montclair Academy and The Kimberley School in 1974. Honoring the Leslie Bartell Foundation at the ALJ High School Senior Awards Ceremony
CLARK, NJ — At the Arthur L. Johnson High School Senior Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, June 6, Richard Bartell, of Bartell Farm and Garden Supplies in Clark, was presented with a plaque thanking him and his family for supporting our ALJ students for the past 26 years. The Leslie Bartell Memorial Scholarship Fund has provided over 1 million dollars in scholarships to ALJ seniors to advance their education. A groundbreaking ceremony for Hudson County Community College’s new Center for Student Success will take place at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at 2 Enos Pl., Jersey City. The new 11-story building will be multipurpose, and will have classrooms, offices, a gym, and a theater. Hudson County Executive Craig Guy says, “This project will serve thousands of students here at Hudson County Community College. The HCCC Center for Student Success will be the epicenter of study, creativity, activity, and collaboration between students and the surrounding communities.”

Garfield High School celebrated its annual Purple and White Day Assembly last Friday. Summit Student Named National Merit Scholar
EVANSTON, IL -- The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced over 2,900 winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the Finalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. LIVINGSTON, NJ – Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) announced the 23 students from New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District who have been appointed to the U.S. Service Academies and are attending the Service Academy Preparatory Schools.
