Police from North Caldwell and Cedar Grove Team up to Arrest Two Suspects After Car Burglary Attempts
NORTH CALDWELL, NJ -- Cedar Grove police took two suspects into custody and then turned them over to North Caldwell police for charges Monday night after two attempted motor vehicle burglaries. At 8:50 p.m. Monday, the North Caldwell Police Department notified Cedar Grove police that two suspects had attempted motor vehicle burglaries in North Caldwell before escaping on foot into the Park Ridge Estates in Cedar Grove. Assisted by state police, the Essex County Sheriff's Office, and the North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Essex Fells, Verona and Fairfield police departments, Cedar Grove police set up a perimeter. After a two-hour search, Cedar Grove police located the suspects, who were attempting to escape in an Uber. They ended up in the custody of the North Caldwell Police Department.

ELIZABETH — Three people are in the hospital after a group of brawling pit bulls turned on them Tuesday morning. A group of pit bulls was fighting in the yard of a home around 7:40 a.m. when a person walking their dog walked by, according to Elizabeth spokesperson Ruby Contreras. MONTVILLE, NJ – The Montville Township Committee met on March 14 and Patrolman Michael Rhodes, Jr. was sworn into the Montville Township Police Department. Michael Rhodes Jr. was born and raised in Clifton, according to Police Chief Andrew Caggiano. In 2016, he began working for the Passaic County Sheriff's Office as a corrections officer. In January 2022, Officer Rhodes moved to Montville Township. In June 2022, Michael was hired by the Clifton Police Department. He attended the Passaic County Police Academy, and graduated in October 2022. He successfully completed the Clifton Police Department’s field training program. He was hired by the Montville Township Police Department on March 1, 2023. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. A Lehigh Valley man is among eight charged in federal court with roles in a fentanyl trafficking ring in New Jersey, authorities said. Derrick Gilliam, 48, who lives in Alburtis but previously lived in Easton, was one of three primary suppliers for the ring that operated in and around Union County, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Bloomfield Fire Department Passes Air and Water Quality Inspections at its Stations
BLOOMFIELD, NJ – As part of its commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its firefighters, the Bloomfield Fire Department (BFD) recently took the proactive measure of conducting comprehensive air and water quality checks at all of its fire stations, which confirmed they were clear of any dangerous or toxic particulates. The testing was performed by Underwriter Laboratories Solutions at the BFD’s four fire stations located at 90 Watsessing Avenue, 124 East Passaic Avenue, 1233 Broad Street, and 375 Franklin Street, and included checks for carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, airborne particulates, allergenic particles, common indoor gasses, volatile organic compounds, water quality, as well as temperature and humidity. Overall, the results revealed that the indoor air and drinking water quality met standards and the indoor temperature conditions were within the suggested ranges. “We are committed to the health and wellness of our members, which is why we initiated this extensive study. We will continue to maintain and provide the highest quality of resources and working conditions to the brave men and women who keep our community safe,” said Bloomfield Fire Department Chief Louis Venezia.

A 31-year-old woman from Newark who killed a man and wounded another in a drive-by shooting has been sentenced to 28 years in New Jersey State Prison.
