    Kentucky police called to check on man found him dead; search under way for his killer

    Kentucky State Police launched a murder investigation Sunday night after they were called to check on a person, who they found dead from gunshot wounds.

    State police were called at approximately 5:25 p.m., Sunday by Rockcastle County 911 for a welfare check on Goochland Cave Road in Rockcastle County.

    Upon arrival, police located the body of a man who appeared to have died from apparent gunshot wounds.

    The victim was identified as Joshua L. Dooley, 43, of Mount Vernon, Kentucky.

    Dooley was pronounced deceased by the Rockcastle County Coroner. Dooley’s body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

    As a result of the investigation, KSP Detectives are currently attempting to locate a person of interest, Clayton D. Cox, 49, of Mount Vernon, Kentucky.

    State police warned residents, not to approach Cox as he is believed to be armed and dangerous.
