LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - Three men were arrested Wednesday morning following a complaint of illegally using utilities from a nearby utility company. Deputies were sent out Wednesday morning after a call of utilities being illegally used. The caller told deputies that when he approached the man, he was armed with a gun.

The City of London continues to grow, literally, with approval of city council members for annexation of specific areas adjoining current city limits, increasing the size by nearly 1,900 more acres. City council members approved several “Intent to Annex” ordinances during this week’s 2-1/2 hour regular meeting. Six specific areas were named in the ordinances, one of which incorporates the 130.07 acres of Greer Industrial Park into city limits. Others include:

A motorist reported the man was standing near the road and police identified him after putting out an alert.

Organizers of a small event in Corbin said two men with guns threatened them and used slurs before police showed up to the incident.

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - A Williamsburg man was arrested in London on a warrant for complicity to commit robbery in addition to several other charges. Deputies were able to issue a traffic stop on Robbie Baker, 44, of Williamsburg, Thursday afternoon after investigating his location. Baker was wanted in regard to an armed robbery at a business off Highway 770 in March.

Children of all abilities will soon have another place to play in London. The Scott Rose Foundation, in partnership with London Tourism, will have a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Scott Rose Playground and Musical Park Saturday, June 10th at 10 a.m. at the London-Laurel Wellness Park off KY 192 Bypass in the College Park property. The new playground is handicap accessible and is for all children, including those with mental and/or physical disabilities. Organizer Lawrence Kuhl said they will have souvenir t-shirts for the kids as long as they last. The all-inclusive playground is the final act of the Scott Rose Foundation, which is dissolving after nearly 40 years of contributions toward physical and developmental recreational activities and monetary contributions to the London community.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Detectives Robert Reed, Jake Miller and Bryon Lawson caught up to a man wanted for robbery. A warrant was issued for 30-year-old Timothy Garland following a robbery in late April. Allegedly Garland stole money from a business, armed with a screwdriver. He reportedly got into a fight with two people at the business, causing minor injuries, then ran off. When Garland was arrested earlier this week, he was found to be in possession of stolen items from another store earlier in the day. He was charged with robbery, theft and two counts of assault. Garland was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

10 years ago in Clay County, three people died in a medical helicopter crash in an elementary school parking lot. This week, the community gathered on the anniversary to hold a candlelight vigil in their memory. On June 6th, 2013, Air Evac Lifeteam Flight 109, based in Manchester, crashed at Paces Creek Elementary School killing pilot Eddy Sizemore, flight paramedic Herman “Lee” Dobbs and flight nurse Jesse Jones. The ceremony featured singing, a video tribute to the crew members who were on board and some of those in attendance sharing scripture and stories about the crew. Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London Police Chief Chuck Johnson announced the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force made a drug arrest at a traffic safety checkpoint. A driver, 25-year-old Khalil Washington, of Lexington, was found in possession of around a pound of methamphetamine, 2 ounces of fentanyl and a firearm. Washington was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
