Laurel County Police Recover Stolen Camper And Arrest London Man In The Case
Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Allen Turner recovered a trailer stolen from a business and made an arrest in the case. Police were called after a camper trailer was stolen from a London business and surveillance video showed a truck hauling the trailer off. The truck was found to belong to 42-year-old Michael Henson, of London, who was charged with theft. He was also charged on two Laurel District Court bench warrants. Henson was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. Police found the trailer off Nantz Road and returned it to the owner.
Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force Arrests Lexington Man On Drug Charges
Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London Police Chief Chuck Johnson announced the Laurel County Drug Interdiction Task Force made a drug arrest at a traffic safety checkpoint. A driver, 25-year-old Khalil Washington, of Lexington, was found in possession of around a pound of methamphetamine, 2 ounces of fentanyl and a firearm. Washington was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
Laurel County Crash Leads To Drug Arrest
Laurel County Sheriff John Root reports Deputy Zach Allen along with Detective Jake Miller were called out to a crash on Johnson Road and Old Way Road east of London. Police arrived to find a car in a ditch. The driver, 26-year-old Marcus Woods, of London, was found to be under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Woods was also found in possession of methamphetamine during the arrest and admitted to having used it before the crash. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
London man charged with trespassing, public intoxication
LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - A man was charged with trespassing and public intoxication at a home in London. Officials were called to a home on Fariston Road on Sunday night on a burglary complaint. A woman told police she came home to find a man in her bedroom and that he fled the scene when she threatened him with a gun.

Mount Vernon Police Looking For Man Who Reportedly Sideswiped Police Cruiser
The Mount Vernon Police Department says they’re looking for a man who reportedly sideswiped a police cruiser and ran away. Officers said they tried to pull over Billy Barrett for a suspected DUI. However, during a chase, they said Barrett sideswiped a Mount Vernon police cruiser. Officials said he didn’t stop until he wrecked on Bowling Ridge Road and ran away on foot. Barrett faces several charges, including fleeing, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, speeding, reckless driving and DUI. Anyone with information is urged to call Rockcastle 911 at 606-256-2121.

KSP Announces Traffic Safety Checkpoints
The Kentucky State Police Post 11 in London, which provides coverage for Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties, has announced they will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at various locations. The checkpoints are an effort to enforce traffic laws, especially seatbelt adherence, sobriety, insurance and registration violations. Opening Date Announced For Harness Racing Track In Corbin
An opening date has been announced for a new horse racing track in Southeast Kentucky. Cumberland Run will open in Corbin for harness racing on October 15th, similar to the type of racing at Red Mile in Lexington. People are often drawn to the city thanks to Cumberland Falls and the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken. It’s been just over a year since ground was broken on the venue which will include the standardbred track, stables and a gaming hall. Racing will last 10 days in October, but wagering on historical horse racing on gaming machines, will be offered year-round. The track is located just off the Cumberland Bypass and is managed by the same group as The Mint Gaming Hall. This will be the third harness racing track in Kentucky and the first horse racing track of any kind in Southeastern Kentucky. Future plans call for a hotel creating even more jobs.

London Woman Arrested For Theft After She Was Allegedly Caught In The Act
The London Police Department says good police work caught a London woman in the act of stealing equipment from a residence. Detective Dillon Blair says he saw a woman, later identified as 56-year-old Rebecca Barrett of London, get out of the passenger side of a vehicle, run into a grassy area, steal a piece of equipment. Det. Blair said she then ran back to the vehicle and threw the equipment in the back seat. Det. Blair pulled the vehicle over and when he asked Barrett about the equipment in the back seat, she said she didn’t know who it belonged to. She was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking. Barrett was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
