The Treatment of Queer Students at EHS
The treatment of queer children, students, and people in general is as hot of a topic as it is often controversial. But it is a necessary conversation to be had and heard. It is a conversation that is needed to ensure safety, and overall well being of students throughout the country and world. But this article will focus on a certain demographic of people in one area. Queer students at EHS were interviewed about their experiences in the last year, or in the case of any sophomore students, the past 2 months. Several students and staff were interviewed about what they’ve seen, heard, and experienced. To start, we must find and identify the student demographic being interviewed. Students who identified as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community were interviewed for this article. All in all, 3 students were interviewed as well as staff members from the math department, history department, art department, and office staff. Extra note: Answers given by those interviewed were shortened and occasionally censored due to the nature of the wording. The actual meaning behind answers given was not changed, the wording was changed to be more digestible without sacrificing the integrity of the answer.
