RAMSEY — The borough has hired Appraisal Systems Inc. to conduct a Bergen County-ordered property revaluation and reassessment, officials said on Tuesday.

"Letters outlining the reassessment process were sent to all property owners by Appraisal Systems," Mayor Deirdre Dillon said. "Please do not throw out these letters. They should be retained throughout the revaluation process should you have any questions."

A complete property reassessment and revaluation is ordered when a municipality’s valuation drops below an 85% threshold to the current market.

Almost half of Bergen County's 70 municipalities received this same order.

A property tax revaluation has a “net neutral” overall tax impact on the borough, however, individual properties will see different impacts on property taxes depending on individual property change compared to the borough average.

The borough anticipates this revaluation process to be completed and take effect with the third quarter 2025 property tax bill.

Appraisal System representatives who perform the external and internal property inspections will carry photo identification. Their names will be registered with the Ramsey Police Department. Questions or concerns regarding the inspection process should be directed to Appraisal Systems at 201-493-8530, or their website asinj.com.
