‘Same great flavor’: After storm damage, family-run eatery reopens in Lehigh County

COOPERSBURG, Pa. – Six months after a storm ripped off part of its roof, a popular restaurant in Lehigh County is welcoming back customers. La Cocina de la Abuela, a family-run restaurant offering authentic Mexican cuisine, held a grand reopening on Oct. 10 at 127 S. Third St. (Route 309) in Coopersburg, according to an announcement on the business’s Facebook page.

School lunch periods should be longer

How is lunch supposed to be a meal if it only lasts 20 minutes? In most schools, including Edison Intermediate School (EIS), students have only 20 minutes to find a seat in the lunchroom, wait in line to buy their food, eat, and still find time to talk with friends. Instead of having a relaxing break in the middle of the school day, students have to race against time to survive the rest of the day. In EIS, students have 40 minutes, split into 20 minutes for lunch and 20 minutes for recess outside. Consequently, EIS can enforce a 30-minute eating period and a ten-minute recess period because it helps students perform academically, prevents waste and insect problems, and allows them to eat healthier food options.
