Retired New York Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson is opening his first restaurant in Albany, bringing South Carolina-style barbecue to the Capital Region. Mookie Wilson’s Legacy BBQ is scheduled to open Nov. 6 at 42 Eagle St., serving lunch and dinner in the former War Room Tavern space. Fall is a time for soups, apple cider and pumpkin everything but for me, there's comfort in Caesar salad. Call it romaine romance: What's great about Caesars are that they're light enough to remind me of summer but substantial enough (especially when you add salmon or steak) to be a meal. There's also something comforting about the combination of crisp lettuce, creamy dressing and crouton crunchiness that leads to my Caesar state of mind. Whether you prefer yours with chicken breast and romaine lettuce, plumped with kale, or topped with anchovies (a divisive factor, I know), menus in Westchester and Rockland have an option with your name on it. What follows are a few of my favorites, keeping in mind I'm a no anchovies gal (though I'll get them mixed in.) More: 19 new restaurants open in Westchester Polpettina, Eastchester Sometimes, the original is hard to beat. Which is why the Caesar at Polpettina has my attention. While I wouldn’t call it entirely traditional — there’s nothing about this place that feels old-fashioned — it certainly embraces the philosophy of making every ingredient count.
