These incidents include a man being arrested for vehicle theft for the second time in a month, a man caught on surveillance beating motel employees unconscious, and a juvenile arrested for issuing a bomb threat at a local school.

This week in Bourbon, Missouri, two incidents occurred that require attention in the weekly safety report. The first incident involved a Bourbon man who was charged with drug trafficking after being found in possession of over 20 milligrams of fentanyl and suspected methamphetamine. The second incident was a fiery crash on Old Springfield Road, where three juveniles were injured after the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, resulting in the car catching fire. Two of the juveniles were flown to St. Louis for treatment, while the driver was taken to a local hospital.

(Washington County, MO) A Potosi man, 40 year old Nicholas D. Dunn, is recovering from moderate injuries after his motorcycle struck a dog in Washington County Wednesday afternoon at 12:40. According to Highway Patrol reports Dunn was headed north at 11024 Highway E, when the dog ran into the path of his motorcycle. It struck the dog and became airborne. Dunn was thrown from the bike. He was wearing a helmet when the wreck happened. Dunn was taken to Washington County Memorial Hospital at Potosi.

(St. Francois County, MO) A man from Farmington, 65 year old Ronald D. Barton, is suffering serious injuries after he was involved in a one vehicle wreck on Loughboro Road in St. Francois County Wednesday afternoon at 4:15. Highway Patrol Troopers say Barton was driving an SUV east on Loughboro. It ran off the right side of the road and crashed into a tree. Barton was taken to Parkland Health Center at Farmington. He was not wearing his seat belt during the crash.

The Meramec Regional Community Foundation will be awarding two $750 community grants. One grant will be made to a project that focuses on community or economic development and the other will assist at-risk children and/or low-income families. Any nonprofit 501c3 organizations, schools, faith-based organizations and governmental entities looking to address these needs are encouraged to apply. Those applying must be based out of Crawford, Dent and Washington counties, plus five other counties. The last 12 years, the foundation has awarded these grants. Programs in the past have included city beautification, illiteracy programs, supplies for the homeless populations and more. Since it’s inception, $17,400 in grants have been awarded to 64 community projects. The grants are made possible because of a $30,000 donation from the Meramec Regional Planning Commission.
