A suspected serial killer in Oregon has been indicted on murder charges in the deaths of three women last year, and may be connected to the deaths of at least two other women, authorities said.

Jesse Calhoun, 39, was charged with three counts of murder in the second degree and three counts of abuse of a corpse, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

The charges are connected to the deaths of Joanna Speaks, 32; Charity Lynn Perry, 24; and Bridget Leanne Webster, 31. The remains of all three victims were found in April of last year under "suspicious circumstances," the DA's office said.

In July of last year, the DA's office said Perry's case and Webster's case may be linked to the deaths of two other women, Kristin Smith and Ashley Real.

Smith, 22, was reported missing in December 2022, and her remains were found in a wooded area in Portland in February 2023. Real's remains were found in May 2023 in the woods in the Eagle Creek area.

Calhoun was in custody at Snake River Correctional Institution awaiting transfer to the custody of Multnomah County for arraignment.

The Portland Police Department is asking anyone with any information about the women's deaths or about Calhoun to contact detectives.

MCDA recognizes the profound effect these women’s deaths have had on their families, friends, and the community. MCDA is committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families," the DA's office said in a statement.
