Thorns FC: Turn and Turnabout
There are draws that feel like losses. There are draws that feel like wins. And, apparently, there are draws that feel like both, which is the way I felt about the 1-1 draw that Portland and San Diego thrashed out last Friday. For about 86 minutes and change the Thorns...

A week removed from setting the state record in the girls 4x400-meter relay race, the Lake Oswego girls were back on the track. But this time with their original lineup. The team finished the race in three minutes, 49.83 seconds, setting a new state record that has stood since 2003.
5 places to get a beer near NASCAR race at Portland International Raceway
NASCAR returns to Portland for a second consecutive year with races on Friday and Saturday, June 2-3, at Portland International Raceway. If it’s not raining, there’s a good chance it’s going to get hot for those sitting in the stands. So at the end of the day, race attendees might be looking for a beer — and likely many will want something other than Bud Light.
Portland Pickles aim to entertain on the field, too
The eighth version of the Portland Pickles take the field this week at Walker Stadium with one of its most diverse rosters of current college baseball talent, yet. It’s a roster that includes a player from Japan, several who hope to hear their name in this summer’s MLB Draft and a few who were part of the Pickles team that went 36-16 in 2022. Before beginning West Coast League play...

The Canby girls’ 4x400 relay team was not favored to do that well on the final day of the OSAA 5A track and field state championships at Hayward Field in Eugene on Saturday, May 27. After all, the relay had only one athlete who qualified for a final at the state meet individually. Further, the team entered with the third slowest entry of the field, and was slated to run in the first heat, which contained the slower teams. ...

Sentinel’s Special Olympics
I have been going to this important local event since elementary school, and it has never ceased to be an amazing experience. Our Sentinel athletes have been practicing twice a week, every week since spring break, making sure to take measurements, time trials to track their improvement, and thoroughly prepare for the big day. And it’s not just our athletes who have been preparing: our amazing staff, parents, and community have had their work cut out for them as well. Starting off with a boat load of paperwork (including a ten-page questionnaire), athlete medicals, Covid forms, etc. Then there’s registration…which may seem simple, but has proven itself otherwise.
