Men From Bixby in Court
(Iron County, MO) Two men from Bixby, 48 year old Jeffery Preston Asher and 25 year old Lorenzo McGee, will have their preliminary hearings in Iron County Court Thursday, June 1st. The pair are in custody on first degree murder and armed criminal action charges in connection to the shooting death of 51 year old Donald Ray Barton. Barton was found shot and lying in the middle of Neals Creek Road March 27th. The crime scene is a few miles from the Bixby General Store. Motorists found Barton's body lying in the middle of the gravel road, with a gunshot wound to the stomach just southeast of the Pump Cemetery. Barton was flown to Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan however he was pronounced dead by Hospital staff. McGee and Asher could receive life in prison with the possibility of the death penalty.
Iron County Tuesday Crash
(Iron County, MO) Four people are recovering from injuries after a two vehicle crash in Iron County Tuesday evening. According to reports from the Highway Patrol a car driven north on Highway N, a mile north of Middlebrook, by 19 year old Willie B. Carter of Ironton, crossed over the centerline at about 6:40 pm and crashed head on into a pick up driven south by 59 year old Allan R. Ketcherside of Bismarck. Carter was moderately injured while Ketcherside received serious injuries. A passenger in Carter's car, 23 year old Phoenix D. Dover of Farmington received moderate injuries, and a passenger in Ketcherside's pick up, 42 year old Erin L. DeClue of Bismarck was seriously injured. Carter and Dover were transported to Parkland Health Center South at Farmington while Ketcherside and DeClue were flown to Mercy Hospital South at St. Louis. Carter was the only one wearing a seat belt during the crash.

The City Administrator of Bonne Terre, Shawn Kay, says old lines throughout the city are easily damaged and can cause harmful conditions for customers so they want to repair as many as possible as soon as they can.
Carthage Celebration Honors Officer Lane Burns
(Carthage, MO) A celebration to honor Bonne Terre Officer Lane Burns will be held in his home town of Carthage this weekend. Burns was killed in the line of duty while he and his partner, Officer Garrett Worley, were answering a disturbance call at a Bonne Terre Motel in March of 2022. Bonne Terre Police Chief, Doug Calvert, says Burns and Worley, are the kind of officers the department, and the community, can be proud of.

Madison County Wednesday Traffic Crash
(Madison County, MO) A teenager from Fredericktown, 18 year old Heath D. St. Clair, is recovering from moderate injuries after a one car accident in Madison County Wednesday afternoon. Highway Patrol reports show the wreck took place at 3:30 as the car was being driven west on Madison County Road 208, 7 miles east of Fredericktown, by a 17 year old female juvenile from Doe Run. The accident took place as the car ran off the right side of the road, crashed into a ditch, and rolled over. The driver received minor injuries. St. Clair and the female juvenile were taken to Madison Medical Center in Fredericktown.

VFW Memorial Day Service Schedule
Farmington VFW Post 5896, the Farmington American Legion Post 416, and Farmington High School's JROTC group will spend Memorial Day honoring our fallen comrades Monday. The list of cemeteries and other locations the groups will visit this year include the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Farmington at 6:45 am, the Lutheran Cemetery off HHighway 32 at 7, and Hillview Memorial Gardens on Westmeyer Road at 7:15. Stops will also be made at the Copenhagen cemetery at 7:30, William Murphy at 7:45, the Knights of Pythias at 8 o'clock, New Calvary at 8, and the Masonic Cemetery and Old Calvary cemeteries on South Henry at 8 and 8:25 am.
Tax Commission Looks at Reynolds County
(Reynolds County, MO) Missouri State Tax Commissioners are asking Reynolds County Assessor, Rick Parker, to respond to the organization's request to have a discussion with him on his reported refusal to raise residential assessments for 2023. In a letter to Parker from tax commission members, dated May 19th, commissioners say the 2021 Reynolds Residential Sales Study shows residential values in the county are below market value. The letter goes on to say if an agreement is not reached concerning the Residential Memorandum of Understanding, between the commission and the county, the county's state cost share monies could be in jeopardy. It also states if an agreement cannot be reached by June 15th the commission may withhold the Reynolds County quarterly reimbursement monies until progress can be made towards fair market value to residential assessments.
