1 man dead, 1 man wounded in the middle of a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon in North Philly

PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — A double shooting in the middle of a rainy afternoon on Saturday in North Philadelphia left one man dead and another injured, say police. In addition, a 28-year-old man was found dead later that day on the grounds of a former golf course in West Philadelphia.

At approximately 1:41 p.m. Saturday, a 21-year-old man was shot and killed and another 21-year-old man was injured on Rising Sun Avenue, near its intersection with Germantown Avenue, according to police.

Authorities say both victims were transported to Temple University Hospital in private vehicles. One was shot in the upper chest and was pronounced dead at 2:04 p.m. The victim was later identified as 21-year-old Joshua Hester, of Philadelphia.

The other victim sustained a gunshot wound to the upper lip and is currently in stable condition.

Philadelphia police are actively investigating the incident. Police have not made any arrests, but they did recover two guns.

There is a $20,000 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or to leave an anonymous tip via phone or text at 215-686-TIPS.

In addition, police say, later that day, a 28-year-old man was found dead Saturday on the grounds of a former golf course on City Line Avenue in West Philadelphia. Police say his death is still under investigation.

He was found unconscious at around 4:15 p.m., near an electrical box on the property at 7900 City Line Avenue in the city's Overbrook Park neighborhood. He was taken to nearby Lankenau Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
