Olympic legend Jackie Joyner-Kersee inspires Philly business leaders ahead of Paris Games
On the eve of the 2024 Paris Olympics, a legend of the Games was in Philly to help inspire local businesses. Jackie Joyner-Kersee — who won three Olympic gold, one silver and three bronze medals during her illustrious career — joined members of BCA Philadelphia at the Kimmel Center to regale them with tales of her upbringing, as well as the adversities she faced and overcame to reach the pinnacle of track and field.
‘Keep going and don’t give up’
Six-year-old Haddonfield resident Ari Crossey crossed the finish line at his second triathlon at the Erlton Swim Club in Cherry Hill on July 21. While last year he was the youngest participant to finish, this year Crossey placed first as the event’s only contestant in the kids category. Crossey enjoyed racing by himself and compared it to racing in his own private triathlon.
Phillies “Shimmy” to Sea Isle for Special Event Aug. 20
It seems that Sea Isle City is turning out to be the place to go this summer for star players and other celebrities from the Philly sports scene. After major events in Sea Isle involving the Eagles and Flyers in June and early July, now comes word that the Phillies are coming to town on Aug. 20 for a family-friendly celebration called the “Phillies Shimmy Down The Shore.” It is scheduled from 6-9:30 p.m. in Excursion Park.
