PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Millions of dollars worth of counterfeit money was seized in Philadelphia.U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers intercepted four huge shipments in May, totaling $14.3 million.Officers say the fake money is often used during in-person transactions to rip off inexperienced sellers and small businesses.The counterfeit money has been turned over to special agents with the U.S. Secret Service.According to the U.S. Secret Service, counterfeiting currency is a lucrative business and is often used to finance illegal activities, including financial fraud, narcotics smuggling, terrorism, and attacks against our nation's financial systems.Consumers and businesses can protect themselves from inadvertently receiving counterfeit currency by learning to quickly identify authentic Federal Reserve notes.

A Philadelphia school was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after a gun was found in a student's backpack.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An 18-year-old was shot seven times and ran over by an ATV in Philadelphia's Fairhill section Monday night, police said. The shooting happened on the 2900 block of Mascher Street just before 9 p.m.Police said the 18-year-old was shot three times in the left buttocks, twice in the left side of his back, and twice in the left shoulder. He was placed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital. No arrests have been made and no weapons were recovered, according to police. 

The shooting happened on Interstate 95 after police responded to a large street race that had the highway shut down.

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. ( News10 )-Timothy Taylor, the man wanted in the murders of his girlfriend in New York City and his ex-wife in Schenectady is scheduled to have an extradition hearing in Pennsylvania after he was taken into custody last week by members of the U.S. Marshals Service in Philadelphia. Reporter Ayana Harry Dudley with News10's sister station PIX11, reports that the hearing is expected to happen on June 13th. In the meantime, Taylor is being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia, according to the U.

Jeffrey Thompson, a 60-year-old man, has been reported missing in Philadelphia since June 3, 2023. He was last seen on the 2200 block of N. Chadwick St. Thompson is described as 6′ 0″, 170lbs, with a tall build, brown eyes, medium brown complexion, and black hair. No clothing description has been provided.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are asking for the public's help to identify a man they say fired nearly 10 shots into an occupied building last month. The suspect was armed with a handgun when he opened fire on the 3300 block of Ridge Avenue in the early morning hours of May 31, according to authorities.

Clifford Pendleton, 38, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and related counts, said East Lansdowne Borough Police in a release. Officers were called to a home on Beverly Avenue for a reported stabbing around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, the department said. They arrived to find an elderly woman suffering from "lacerations" across her head and face, police said.

The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking help in identifying a suspect who approached a 21-year-old male victim sitting in his car in the 1700 block of Church Lane on October 4, 2022.
