    Springfest at Perryville Battlefield happening Saturday

    Perryville Battlefield State Historic Park is hosting its annual Springfest event on Saturday, May 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

    At the event, people can learn about the impact Kentucky State Parks have on the environment, learn how to set up a wildflower garden, learn how to grow your own Monarch butterfly way station, and talk with experts on wildflowers, native grasses, butterflies, bees, birds, and native wildlife.

    People can also hike through the park’s 19 miles of trails, and shop seed vendors and handmade crafts.

    Vendors at the event will include Widow Works by Trina Davidson, P.S. Studios by Joy Pryor with jewelry, and Worker Bee Sewing Company by Teresa Webb, with stuffed animals, birds, ornaments, dolls, and more.

    Food vendors will be The Chuck Wagon and the Boyle County Band Association. The schedule of speakers for the day is below. All speakers will present in Civil War Hall across from the museum.

    Schedule

    Saturday May 11

    • 10 am- Charlie Logsdon- Roundstone Seed Company: Presentation on how to set up your own wildflower field.
    • 10 am- Frankfort Audubon Society- Gary Sprandel: Bird Walk around the park.
    • 11 am- Shannon Trimboli- Backyard Ecology / Busy Bee Nursery and Consulting: Gardening With Native Plants
    • Noon- Charlie Logsdon- Roundstone Seed Company: Presentation on how to set up your own

    wildflower field.

    • 1 pm- Jim Embry: How to create a pollinator habitat on your farm and his success at organizing the Pollinator Working group in Madison County.
    • 2:00 pm- Karen Michul: North American Butterfly Association.
    • 3 pm- Robert Myers, Kentucky State Naturalist: Bird Walk.

    There will also be non profit organizations that will have exhibitions at the event.

    The cost of admission is $5 for adults, $3 for a child and $4.50 for a veteran.
