Hitchhikers Charged After Allegedly Stealing Vehicle That Picked Them Up
(BIVN) – Two female hitchhikers were arrested and charged for theft and drug possession, after allegedly stealing the vehicle that picked them up. Hawaiʻi County Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen announced this week that 21 year-old Kauka Santiago and 24 year-old Kawai Kahee, both of Pāhoa, were nabbed by police following the theft of a Nissan Versa, which was originally reported stolen on May 7 from the parking lot of the Pāhoa 7-Eleven Store.

Big Island police seek endangered 12-year-old missing since last week
Big Island police are asking for the public’s help with finding a missing 12-year-old boy who is considered endangered because of his age. Herman Kirklin is 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen the morning of May 7 on Lehua Street in Mountain View. He was initially reported as a runaway.

Big Island Police say 82-year-old Annette Hughes was last seen around 6:30 a.m. as she was walking on Ohialani Street. Police say Hughes has a medical condition that requires medication, so there is urgency in safely locating her.
