April flood delays Pennsboro Speedway opening to October

PENNSBORO, W.Va. (WBOY) — The opening day for the Pennsboro Speedway has been delayed to October and all summer races have been canceled, according to a news release on the racetrack’s website .

“Due to record spring rain and flooding the revitalization of Pennsboro Speedway in Pennsboro, WV has been delayed until October of 2024,” the release reads.

According to the release, weather was already hampering efforts to refurbish the track, but flooding in early April delivered the “final blow” to the project; the track was originally set to open at the end of May .

Summer races at the track have been canceled and will not be rescheduled, and online purchases for those events will be refunded. Questions about tickets or other purchases should be directed to tickets@xrevents.com .

The track’s new official re-opening date will be Oct. 24 for the XR Super Series Mason-Dixon 100 .
