Hononegah, Harlem on collision course in girls flag football sectional
The Rockford-area girls high school flag football season has now come down to two teams. Hononegah and Harlem are on a roll, and they could very well meet up for a sectional title this Tuesday, Oct. 13. That is, if they both stay hot this weekend. More Rockford-area flag football: Harlem leads Rockford-area girls flag football teams into back stretch "It's just really nice to see two NIC-10 teams still battling in the sectionals," Hononegah head coach Jason Brunke said. Hononegah (20-2, 8-1 NIC-10), last year's NIC-10 champ, lost to Harlem (19-2, 8-1) by a score of 35-12 around the midseason point, but the two teams ended up sharing the best record in the NIC-10 and the conference crown. Now they are on a collision course to see who can make it the furthest in the postseason. Hononegah cranked out a 32-0 win over Crystal Lake Prairie Ridge to claim the regional championship on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Quarterback Layla Demke threw three TD passes and had a rushing TD, while freshman wide receiver Claire Vanschelven had two touchdown catches and an interception
