Gardeners may want to hold back on bringing plants out this week. With low temperatures rising nearly 20 degrees this week, the weather seems to be getting better but if last year told us anything, its that we can't be too careful.
Out in the turkey woods is the place to be
I’ll never forget it. In the hardwoods at daybreak on a ridge in Granby, MA many years ago, I heard my first Tom turkey gobble. The vocalization of this wild turkey shattered the pre-dawn quiet. The sound was jarring. It gave me goosebumps. In the floating mist and the half light there was something chilling and mystical about this almost prehistoric mating call.
DASAC Spring Showcase Tops All the Polls
Student dance group Dance and Step at Amherst College (DASAC) performed their end of semester showcase on Sunday, April 28. The show’s theme was “DASAC4PRES,” a timely theme considering the upcoming national presidential election. The show took place on the first year quad despite the complication of a light rainstorm preceding the show. While the rain was over by the time the show started, it left the seating and stage soaked and slippery. Dancers took precaution by mopping the stage prior to the performance and between pieces — DASAC was committed to moving forward with the performance, rain or shine.
