Belchertown Animal Control rescues fox kit from soccer net

BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (WWLP) – A fox kit was rescued by the Belchertown Animal Control from a soccer net on Sunday.

According to Urban Wildlife Rehabilitation Inc., a Belchertown Animal Control officer came across a fox kit in distress as it was stuck in a soccer net. While the officer was trying to safely remove the fox kit, it made it clear that he did not like being handled.

There was no sign of a parent around and it appeared to be in good health other than being stuck in the net. The fox kit was released in hopes that a parent would come and retrieve the kit once there were no humans around.

The fox kit ran away and hid under a nearby shed for his safety. Berkshire Wildlife Services was called to accept the fox kit if an intervention was needed. After a short time, the fox kit was reunited with a parent. The kit began to nurse while the vixen cleaned and checked out her kit. After this, they both disappeared into their den.
