Farmington Tigers softball head coach Paul Harrington is hoping the state high school league will consider moving the high school state softball tournament from its longtime home in North Mankato to the Twin Cities.
Hornets continue to sting the baseball during winning streak
Momentum is building for the Edina High baseball team after three straight Lake Conference wins last week. Before the winning streak began, Edina played St. Louis Park April 22 and lost 4-1 to Oriole pitching ace Miles Jungroth. Walk-off powers West over Hopkins
MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Mankato West Scarlets high school softball team down 4-0 at one point complete the 5-4 comeback win over the Hopkins Royals on a walk-off Wednesday afternoon. Scarlets are back in action next Monday when they travel to Le Sueur-Henderson.
Osseo track and field takes 3rd in Monticello
The Osseo boys’ and girls’ track and field teams hopped on busses and rode them to Monticello for the Monticello Invitational. There was some strong gusts of wind behind the backs of the runners but everybody competed in the same conditions so the playing field was level. Monticello won the boys’ meet while Alexandria won the girls’ side. Osseo took third on both fronts. The boys scored 128 and the girls scored 114.5. ...
Delano snaps two-game skid with win against Becker
DELANO – Close games and runs coming hard to come by have been no stranger to the Delano baseball team this season. Delano once again found themselves in a pitcher’s battle and came out on the wrong end of things in a tough 1-0 loss to Mound Westonka April 25. Neither team had much going offensively as the two teams combined for just three hits. Mound Westonka was the lone team to come out and score a run as they were finally able to break through in the top of the fifth. The lone run of the game came on a solo home run by C Esposito and that was enough for the White Hawks to get the win. Brody Geislinger had the lone hit of the game for the Tigers in the loss. It’s the second time this season that Delano has been held to just one hit and were shut out. Geislinger also took the loss on the mound despite tossing a gem for Delano. He went all seven innings allowing the lone run off two hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Rogers softball beats Centennial 11-5
The Rogers softball team scored nearly a dozen runs as the Royals (10-1, 5-1) defeated Centennial (5-5, 4-3) 11-5 on April 25, at Lexington Memorial Park in Lexington. Sydney Bailey, Brianna Ness and Lexie Young each had three RBIs. Bailey was 2-for-4 with a home run, Ness was 1-for-4 with a single and Young was 2-for-4 with a single and a home run. On the mound, AnnaBelle Waldoch threw a complete game, allowing three hits, three earned runs and four walks while striking out six. The Royals host St. Cloud (6-3, 6-2) on Friday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. at the Rogers High School softball field.
Coach Koltes wins 400th game with Crimson softball
Not many coaches stick around with one school for 23 years. Fewer still, find as much success as Maple Grove softball coach Jim Koltes. Koltes has been with the program since practically the turn of the century and last week, he became the 28th coach in Minnesota softball history to tally his 400th career victory. “I feel really blessed. Champlin Park and Park Center boys volleyball met last week in a border battle at Champlin Park High School on April 25, with the Pirates coming out on top with a 3-1 win. Park Center opened the night with a comprehensive 25-18 win in set one, which featured no timeouts.
