    Osseo track and field takes 3rd in Monticello

    The Osseo boys’ and girls’ track and field teams hopped on busses and rode them to Monticello for the Monticello Invitational. There was some strong gusts of wind behind the backs of the runners but everybody competed in the same conditions so the playing field was level.

    Monticello won the boys’ meet while Alexandria won the girls’ side. Osseo took third on both fronts. The boys scored 128 and the girls scored 114.5.

    The sprinters had good days while the distance runners feasted per usual as the Orioles saw a plethora of top-five finishes throughout the evening.

    Alpha Graduway took second in the boys’ 200 (22.85) a new PR. Kalen Blanchette (sixth, 23.73) just missed the top five with another PR. Blanchette, Shawn Lakeman and Mahki Clerk finished sixth seventh and eighth respectively in the boys’ 400.

    Linton McPherson won the boys’ 110-meter hurdles (15.16) and took third in the 300 hurdles (41.62). Chiwetaramonu Attama took fourth (15.41) in the 110 hurdles.

    Cade Sanvik won the boys’ 800 (1:56.34). Quinlan Rundquist (4:35.83) won the boys’ 1600 while Earl Peter (4:44.54) took second. Ben Sanvik (4:48.41) finished fourth. Davin Christen 10:45.87) took fourth in the 3200-meter.

    Lance Quiah, Trevis Tonan, Richard McIntosh and Alpha Graduway took fourth in the 4x100-meter relay. Trevis Tonan, Ty Swanson, Linton McPherson and Cade Sanvik were the runner-up in the 4x4. Eli Berg, Nathan Berhane, Raleigh Rundquist and Shawn Lakeman finished third in the 4x8.

    Ishaza Mugabi (42-5) was third in the shot put. Attama also took fourth in the high jump (6-0). Raleigh Rundquist was third in the pole vault (10-0). Matthew Trzynka (8-0) was sixth. Lance Quiah rounded out the field performers with a third-place performance in the triple jump (40-8.5).

    On the girls’ side, Frankmico Siaway was sixth in the 100 (13.09). Lamees Abid (1:05.14), Reese Ruska (1:05.92) and Jazleen Romero (1:06.11) went eight-nine-10 in the girls’ 400. Nadia Wilt was eighth in the 800 (2:38.20). Cross country state entrant Jules Davis finished third in the girls’ two-mile (11:21.54).

    Hope Wells won the girls’ 100 (16.79) and 300-meter hurdles (49.07). Araya Benson-Mitchell (18.07) took sixth in the 100 hurdles and Angelina Tahuite Vasquez took fourth in the 300 (51.52).

    Myleigha Martin, Frankmico Siaway, Amiah Lane and Payton Young teamed up to PR and win the girls’ 4x1 (52.79). Frankmico Siaway, Faith Ayobamidele, Amiah Lane and Payton Young finished fourth in the 4x2 (1:51.46). Lamees Abid, Reese Ruska, Jazleen Romero and Jules Davis also hit a PR when they won the girls’ 4x8 (10:03.31).

    Nina Thomas (37) was third in the girls’ shot put and discus (115-5.5). Marie Wonta (32-8.5) and Lena Sampy (31-2) were sixth and seventh in the shot put while Magenta Owens (28-4.5) was 10th. Emma Peterson (88-10) was ninth in the discus.

    Aurora Burke hit a PR when she tied for third in the girls’ pole vault (8-0). Lauren Lakeman and Lily Bruemmer (7-0) tied for fifth. Payton Young was second in the long jump (16-6) and triple jump (33-6).

    This week, the boys travel to New Richmond High School on Friday for an invite starting at 4 p.m. The girls’ varsity team has the week off. True Team is on Tuesday, May 7, at Elk River High School.
