(AP) — Emergency crews in Oregon rescued 28 people Friday after they were stuck for about half an hour dangling upside down high on a ride at a century-old amusement park. Portland Fire and Rescue said on the social platform X that firefighters worked with engineers at Oaks Park to manually lower the ride, but crews had been preparing to conduct a high-angle ropes rescue if necessary. All riders were being evacuated and medically evaluated, and there were no reports of injuries.  One rider with a pre-existing medical condition was taken to a hospital for further evaluation as a precaution, Oaks Amusement Park said in a statement posted on social media. Medics released all other passengers.

Daniels, 21, was killed Tuesday at an apartment complex in Hattiesburg.  Hattiesburg Police Chief Hardy Sims said those charged are Orlando May, 18, of Hattiesburg; Allen Marcus Gardner, 17, of Houston; and Samir Green, 16, of Hattiesburg. Sims said the two juveniles are charged as adults. May is also charged with one count of attempted carjacking, one count of felony eluding and two counts of grand larceny auto. Gardner and Green are also charged with one count each of attempted armed carjacking.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Five people were shot during a community day celebration in a Cincinnati park over the weekend, but none of the injuries were considered life-threatening, police say. Police said the gunfire was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Bramble Park in the Madisonville neighborhood of the city.  Lt. Jonathan Cunningham told WXIX-TV that the ages of the victims were 24, 28, 30, 39, and 46, and all injuries were initially believed to be non-life-threatening. Police said it was unclear what led up to the shooting. WKRC-TV reported that two possible shooters were being sought.  Witnesses reported hearing 20 to 30 shots, and WKRC reported that at least 22 evidence markers could be seen around the park and on the road.

(AP) — An Arkansas prosecutor on Friday said a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent was justified when he fatally shot the Little Rock airport director during a raid at his house in March. Pulaski County Prosecutor Will Jones said in a letter to ATF that no charges in the shooting would be filed after reviewing the Arkansas State Police investigation of the shooting of Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport Executive Director Bryan Malinowski.  Malinowski died days after he was shot when ATF agents were were executing a warrant March 19 at his home in Little Rock. The ATF said agents returned fire after Malinowski shot at the agents, striking and injuring one of them. An affidavit released after the shooting said Malinowski bought over 150 guns between May 2021 and February 2024 and that he resold many without a dealer’s license.
