LOCAL ROUNDUP: Warriors roll in first round of soccer playoffs
TRINITY — Sixth-seeded Wheatmore shut out 27th-seeded Lincoln Charter 8-0 on Monday at Wheatmore in the opening round of the NCHSAA 2A West girls soccer playoffs. Ellie Garrison had seven goals and an assist for the Warriors (14-4), while Natalie Bowman added a goal and two assists. Maggie Messner also had an assist, and Lucy Lockwood made three saves in goal.
Laidback Golf Tour holds first major of the season in Greensboro
Although the field of players was only half the size of last years event due to early morning rain and more rain in the forecast; the nine who showed up at Greensboro National Golf Club Monday, May 6th for the Laidback Golf Tours 1st Major of the season were blessed with a beautiful course and pleasant playing conditions. The course was not wet and only had a couple holes of cart path only play. It was overcast with a slight breeze throughout the round with only light rain catching the last group on their final hole. The course with its large greens proved very challenging again as it always has; giving up only four rounds in the eighties and a single birdie. The lone birdie was carded on the final hole of the day by Randy Kenyon allowing him to clain the $130 C&D Flight skins pool.

HIGH POINT — The Rockers powered their way past the Lexington Legends 7-1 in Atlantic League baseball Wednesday afternoon at Truist Point. Zander Wiel went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for High Point (10-8), which answered Lexington’s one run in the top of the fourth with two in the bottom half — sparking a run of seven straight runs over the next four innings.
Sakir’s career-high leads Hawthorne past High Point- Boys lacrosse recap
Logan Sakir scored nine goals and had two assists to lead Hawthorne to an 11-2 win over High Point in Wantage. The nine goal performance was a career-high for Sakir, a senior. His previous career-high was six goals in a game last season.
