Allegheny County Sheriff's office announces arrest of man wanted after 9 months on the run
NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) - Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin Kraus announced on Thursday morning that a man who had been on the run for nearly nine months has been taken into custody. According to the sheriff's office, 25-year-old Donte Robinson-Veranon has been on the run since August 2023 when he failed to appear in court for a probation violation connected to cases that involved theft and firearms violations. Detectives learned that he was located at an apartment in North Versailles. On Thursday, detectives went to the apartment and Robinson-Veranon attempted to flee out of the back window but ultimately failed, returning to the apartment. He was taken into custody without incident. A search of the apartment found a firearm inside a laundry basket inside of a child's room. When detectives checked the firearm, they learned it had been stolen. Robinson-Veranon was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and now along with the charges included in the bench warrant, he is now facing new charges of receiving stolen property and two more firearm violations.

A man was arrested when, police say, he tried to mail about 2 pounds of cocaine to California from the New Kensington post office. Jonathan Ray Booher, 33, was arraigned Friday before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on charges filed by the Office of Attorney General of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal attempt to delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Woman with dementia reported missing from Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh police seek help finding a missing woman with dementia. Joan Blaney, 78, wandered from her residence along the 8400 block of Bricelyn Street on Friday, Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz reported. She was spotted by staff at Second Chance at 8350 Frankstown Ave., walking inbound at about 12:40 p.m.

Riverhounds announce plans for new multi-field complex in North Huntingdon
NORTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) -- The Pittsburgh Riverhounds have announced plans a new sports complex with indoor and outdoor soccer fields in North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County. The Riverhounds announced the news of the plans for the complex on their website on Thursday and say that it will held expand their footprint and support other organizations in the community. The new complex is expected to stretch across a 42-acre space just off of Route 30 near the Norwin Town Square shopping center and will feature a indoor soccer field and multiple outdoor soccer fields that can be used for other sports, as well."After seeing the way things have thrived since the opening of the AHN Montour Sports Complex in Coraopolis, we couldn't be more excited to be able to continue that growth with a new facility in North Huntingdon," Riverhounds owner Tuffy Shallenberger said. The facility will feature plenty of parking, lights over the outdoor fields, a concession stand, and bleachers at each field. The Riverhounds did not say when they anticipate the complex being ready to open to the public.
