    Norfolk man pleads not guilty to strangulation, false imprisonment

    NORFOLK, Neb (KCAU) — A Norfolk man pleaded not guilty to strangulation, false imprisonment, and other charges.

    Count documents say Agusto Ramos-Umatambo, 40, pleaded not guilty on May 10 to two counts of assault by strangulation or suffocation, two terroristic threats, two counts of third-degree assault-domestic, false imprisonment, and committing child abuse intentional/no injury.

    Ramos-Umatambo was arrested on Feb. 14 by the Norfolk Police Division and initially charged with attempted murder and false imprisonment, according to court documents, and later faced additional charges.

    The arrest occurred after officials allegedly found a woman with multiple injuries and reported that she had been assaulted by Romos-Umatambo before. Officials also reported being told that the woman was allegedly assaulted, strangled, and had her life threatened by Ramos-Umatambo.

    Ramos-Umatambo’s next appearance is set for July 10 at 2 p.m. and his jury trial is set for August 12 at 9 a.m. His bond is as previously ordered at $500,000 and he was remanded to the custody of the Madison Co Sheriff.
