ROCK COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — Authorities say a 60-year-old man was killed Sunday evening after failing to negotiate a curve in the roadway and crashing into a tree.

According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to the scene at the intersection of N. Britt Road and W. Fenrick Road in the Town of Janesville.

Police said the driver, who was from Milton, was traveling north on N. Britt Road when he went off the road, into the northside ditch, and then struck the tree.

The driver suffered serious injuries and died at the hospital, authorities said.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
