CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After a few days of cooler and wet weather, we finally saw some sun and temperatures are back in the 70s Friday.

Cicadas: When are they the loudest?

The rain and wind across much of New England on Thursday was because of low pressure riding up the East Coast and strengthening as it passed Cape Cod. As this area of low pressure continues to move east out to sea, high pressure will build in from the west and give us dry and warm conditions heading into next week.

With this area of high pressure, the jet stream will move north and allow warmer air from the south to come into New England. This will help temperatures get into the 80s for some spots come next week.
