HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — In an ongoing effort to make Henrico County streets safer for all who use them, the county continues to hand out free reflective vests. Where can you get one?

Beginning in the fall of 2023, county officials launched the WOAH! — or “Watch Out Ahead Henrico!” — campaign to address a rise in crashes involving both bicyclists and pedestrians.

According to the Henrico County Police Division, the county saw a total of 87 pedestrian-involved crashes in 2023 — nine of which were deadly. Twenty-three involved bicyclists, one of them fatal.

While the county notes that all residents play a role in making roads safer, reflective vests are something pedestrians and bicyclists can wear to make themselves much more visible to oncoming cars.
