Jury sentences man for hitting girlfriend in face

SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — A jury in Tom Green County found a man guilty in May 2024 after he hit his girlfriend in the face multiple times.

Frank Martinez was found guilty of assault of a household member or person he was dating at the time with a prior conviction. Martinez was previously convicted of family violence assault.

The jury sentenced Martinez to 45 years of imprisonment after a guilty verdict was reached for the third-degree felony.

A press release from the District Attorney’s Office of Allison Palmer reported that Martinez had “punched his girlfriend at the time in the face”. This caused the victim to suffer from a bloody nose, swelling, bruising and other facial injuries.

“With this sentence, the jury has acted to protect our community from a violent offender,” the release from Palmer read. “We want to thank the jury in this case for sending a message to our community that domestic and intimate partner violence will not be tolerated.”
