Rihanna is skipping this year’s Met Gala after reportedly becoming sick with the flu.

After much anticipation from fans and fashion enthusiasts alike, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that Rihanna had become ill before the event and had decided to stay home. Last week, she revealed some details about her Met Gala outfit during her Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation launch event and said she was going to keep it simple because she’s a mom “and doesn’t have time for a lot of sh*t.”

Rihanna also explained to E! that her outfit would be chill and described it as “Very simple-ish….comparing to everything I have done. I am showing up for dinner.” Fans also reacted to the news about Rih’s attendance and said they were waiting hours to see her final look for the year’s biggest fashion event.
