West Sabine ISD $12 million bond fails

UPDATE: The West Sabine ISD $12 million bond failed to pass with 190 votes being cast for and 228 votes cast against the bond on Saturday.

PINELAND, Texas ( KETK ) – West Sabine ISD residents will get to vote on the district’s $12,335,000 bond to fund a new welding lab, FFA pavilion and renovations on Saturday.

On the West Sabine ISD 2024 Bond page they shared the following budget and flyers for their various projects:

• CTE Center: Welding Lab
  • $3,317,000-$3,745,000
• CTE Animal Science/FFA Pavilion
  • $1,476,000-$1,804,000
• Existing Ag Building Renovation to Field House
  • $1,227,600-$1,500,400
• Existing Field House Renovation into Band Hall
  • $1,610,000-$1,890,000
• Existing Band Hall Renovation to Nursing Lab
  • $450,000-$550,000
• Elementary Exterior Re-Clad
  • $390,000-$480,000
• Covered Drive/Entrance
  • $180,000-$220,000
• Restroom Renovations
  • $252,000-$288,000
• Corridor Renovations (Security Vestibule)
  • $750,000-$900,000
• Travel Bus Budget
  • $450,000

West Sabine ISD said that residents over 65 will have no tax impact along with homes worth $100,000 or less but $200,000 homes will see a $15 a month tax increase and $300,000 homes will get a $30 a month increase.
