But after spending a few days at U of L, talking with the coaches and players, touring the campus and city and just getting to know those around the program, Johnson said the weekend was even more than he expected it was going to be.

South Carolina is making a change. Mark Kingston, who has spent the previous seven years leading the program, will no longer be head coach of the Gamecocks. Kingston finished his career with the program going 217-155 overall with an 83-96 mark in Southeastern Conference play. In six seasons of competition, the Gamecocks made it to the NCAA Tournament four times with two of those trips advancing to the Super Regional round. The team never made it to the College World Series under Kingston.
