MOSES LAKE — A 55-year-old Moses Lake man is in jail and a 47-year-old Coulee City man is critically injured due to a shooting about 7:45 p.m. Monday north of Moses Lake, according to a statement from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a passenger in the victim’s car, the victim went to a travel trailer in the 16000 block of Stratford Road Northeast, whose occupant was identified as Brian Faircloth, to discuss an ongoing dispute, the GCSO wrote. The victim entered the residence and came out a short time later saying he had been shot. Evidence shows the victim had sustained two shotgun wounds that struck his arm and chest, the statement said.
The victim got in the driver’s seat and started driving toward Moses Lake while his passenger called 911, according to the statement. Sheriff’s deputies met the vehicle at Stratford Road and Road 10 Northeast and applied tourniquets to the victim’s wounds. The victim was transported to Samaritan Hospital and then flown by air ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The victim’s injuries are life-threatening, the statement said.
Deputies stopped Faircloth’s vehicle on Stratford Road at Road 20 Northeast, according to the statement. Faircloth was taken into custody and then began suffering from a preexisting medical condition. He was first transported to Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata and later transferred to a Spokane hospital. Faircloth was held under police guard for investigation of first-degree assault, and as of Tuesday morning was lodged in Grant County Jail. His trailer and his vehicle, as well as the victim’s vehicle, were impounded as evidence.
