MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has been charged after allegedly throwing nearly 100 grams of drugs out of a car while being pulled over for a traffic stop in Morgantown.
On May 14, officers with the Morgantown Police Department noticed a vehicle with an expired registration traveling on Spruce Street near the intersection of Willey Street, according to a criminal complaint.
Officers said that they followed the vehicle to the front of the WVU MountainLair where they attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver “failed to pull off of the roadway” and instead turned onto College Avenue despite the officer attempting to stop them “on multiple occasions.”
Woman charged after deputies find mushrooms while searching Philippi home Officers said that while on College Avenue, the passenger opened the door while the vehicle was moving and threw “a large plastic bag of what appeared to be a green flowery substance” onto the side of the road.
Eventually, the vehicle stopped on Beechwood Avenue, at which point both of the vehicle’s occupants were detained. The complaint said that officers were able to identify the passenger who threw the bag out of the vehicle as Alexander Camacho, 20.
Officers were later able to locate the bag after Camacho was transported for processing and said that the contents of the bag were identified as “marijuana labeled ‘Blueberry Muffin'” and weighed 93.1 grams.
Camacho has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail.
