Wayne Co. man’s home burglarized hours after fatal crash

MONTICELLO, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A 59-year-old Wayne County man’s home was burglarized about four hours after he was fatally killed in a car accident.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Monticello firefighters were called to West Highway 92 and McKinely Sexton Road to investigate a single-vehicle crash.

Officials said the vehicle, driven by 59-year-old Lawrence Graham, left the highway and overturned, leaving him trapped inside the vehicle. The fire department extracted him from the car, but he was later declared dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and the coroner told FOX 56 that the crash could be related to a possible medical emergency.

Around four hours after the accident, a married couple, Timmy and Lena Troxell of Monticello, were arrested on burglary charges, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy said the two of them were spotted at the scene of the accident before the home was burglarized.

After making contact with the pair of them, the couple told deputies that they were retrieving items from the home for a baby. However, after searching the vehicle, the authorities said they didn’t find any items belonging to a baby inside Graham’s home. The only items taken belonged to Graham.

The Troxell’s were placed under arrest and each was charged with second-degree burglary. They were booked into the Wayne County Detention Center.
