In Friday’s high school football action, the Somerset Briar Jumpers faced a setback in the Class 2A State Semifinals, losing to Owensboro Catholic 44-15. Despite the loss, Somerset concludes the season with notable achievements as regular-season District champions, District Six Champs, and Region Champions, ending with a commendable 10-4 overall record.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) – On Friday night, the Owensboro Catholic Aces set a new school record for wins in a season as they advanced to their first State Finals since 2010. The Aces scored four touchdowns against the Somerset Briar Jumpers in the first quarter, and went on to win the game 44-15. The State Championships are next weekend at the University of Kentucky’s Kroger Field in Lexington.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The Owensboro Catholic Aces are gearing up for a semistate matchup against Somerset. The Aces are undefeated this season, and haven’t played a close game in awhile, beating their most recent opponent, Green County, 50-18 in the quarterfinal this past Friday.
