Somerset man facing federal identity theft and fraud charges
A Somerset man is facing federal charges for computer fraud, identity theft, and more. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 38-year-old Jacob Kipf was indicted on five counts of computer fraud, three counts of aggravated identity theft, and two counts of making false statements on applications in connection with federally insured financial institutions.

Russell Springs woman arrested on burglary charges
A Russell Springs woman was arrested over the weekend and faces multiple burglary charges. Hannah Philpott, age 19, was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of theft by unlawful taking between $1,000 and $10,000 from a building; theft from a building between $500 and $1,000; and possession of burglary tools.
Weekly Safety Report: Two Vehicle Crashes in Monticello, Kentucky
Two incidents occurred in Monticello, Kentucky this week. The first incident involved a two-vehicle crash on KY-90, where Shelia Vanover pulled out in front of Robert Hockenberry. Vanover was flown to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment. The second incident occurred at the intersection of KY 90 and KY 92, where a Toyota SUV and a Nissan car collided, causing both vehicles to leave the road. The driver of the Toyota, Morgan Vidaurri, was flown to UK Medical Center in Lexington for treatment.

Hannah Philpott, 19, of Russell Springs, KY was arrested on Saturday night, November 25, 2023 by KSP for Burglary 3rd degree (2 counts), TBUT from Building $1,000 to $10,000 (2 counts), TBUT from Building $500 to $1,000, and Possession of Burglary Tools. She was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.

Woman arrested after stealing Wayne County ambulance and driving around Lexington
A woman was arrested after police say she stole a Wayne County ambulance and took it for a joy ride around Lexington. Police say 43-year-old Jericha Hays stole the ambulance outside of Saint Joseph East. The ambulance had been used to transport a patient from Wayne County to Saint Joseph East.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - They are used to take people from an emergency, but some people in Lexington said an ambulance nearly caused one Sunday night. “We felt a rush of air, really loud. Like a car going by. We turned around and there was an EMT swerving into the bike lane,” Camarian Dickey explained.

Lewis Bardin, age 43, of Columbia, was arrested by Trooper Harper of the Kentucky State Police, just before 4 a.m. this morning. Bardin was charged with Criminal Trespassing – 3rd Degree, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition greater than $10,000, Driving DUI Suspended License – 1st Offense (Aggravated Circumstances) Operating Motor Vehicle without Ignition Interlock Device, Operating Motor Vehicle Under Influence Alcohol .08 3rd (Aggravated Circumstances), Failure to Illuminate Head Lamps. Monticello Man Arrested for Theft and Trespassing in Local Crime Spree
A Monticello man, Kenneth Myers, has been charged with numerous offenses following a bizarre incident at a local retailer. On November 16, 2023, Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron reported that Myers had been arrested after posing as a private contractor at Tractor Supply Company Store in the Town and Country Shopping Center. Deputy James Barnett apprehended Myers after he unlawfully took a tape measure and attempted to steal several vehicles in the parking lot.
Weekly Safety Report: Alarm Activations and Request for Officer Assistance in Monticello, Kentucky
At 12:50 a.m., an alarm was activated at a location on Tiffany Drive. The building and premises were thoroughly checked, and no signs of any issues were found. At 9:20 a.m., a residential alarm was triggered on North Main Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that the homeowner had accidentally set off the alarm, and everything was found to be in order.
Wayne County Sheriff's Department Cracks Down on Drug Offenses
Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron has announced the recent arrests of three individuals in Monticello, KY, as part of a concerted effort to clamp down on drug-related criminal activity. Miles Sutton and Zachery McGuire were both arrested on charges of Contempt of Court after failing to comply with Drug Court rules, a program designed to facilitate the rehabilitation of non-violent substance abuse offenders. The two are now lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center, facing the consequences of their non-compliance.
Two injured in two-vehicle collision
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at around 3:45 yesterday afternoon. According to Russell Springs Police, 56-year-old Sarah Kelly of Jamestown was operating a 2011 Ford Escort west on Bernard Ridge when she was struck in the passenger side by a 2012 Chevy Equinox operated by 22-year-old Dawson Wells of Somerset.
