Letters to the editor: A plan to save Saint Maria Goretti High School
About one month ago, I sent a letter about the plan to close Saint Maria Goretti High School. I have sent all who replied a copy of my plan to keep SMG open for the 24-25 school year. My plan addresses the declining enrollment situation and proposes a plan to increase enrollment from 147 to 175 for the next year.

It was a clear, beautiful evening for 26 seniors at the Fannett-Metal HIgh School to participate in the final event that resulted in a turned tassel and a high school diploma. Dr. Tara Will introduced the evening speakers. Carson Beaumont, Class of 2024 President and Valedictorian addressed his classmates “Graduation isn’t the finish line, it’s a launching pad” He shared how former Track Coach Mathern Mellott motivated him to always keep running in the direction that you want to go. Drew Goshorn, Class Salutatorian, mentioned many teachers the memories that he will have by being in their classes. He encouraged his fellow graduates to “not just set the bar…be the bar!” Drew Goshorn ended his address by quoting Soccer Coach, Greg Best, “Keep the train rolling – Tackle one challenge at a time and keep moving forward”

Members of the Class of 2024 became alumni of Greencastle-Antrim High School during their commencement ceremony Saturday, June 1, on Kaley Field. As their names were read and future plans announced they came forward one by one to receive their diplomas as family and friends cheered from the packed stands.
