MONROE, La. (KARD.KTVE)— Over the next several weeks, Ark-La-Miss Most Wanted will be talking about different women. Over forty years ago, these women were murdered just nine months apart from each other, but could they share the same killer? The families of the victims’ have not given up hope and today, investigators are back on the case.
Three women, three murders, similar situations; Angie Hill Kathy Whorton, and Sherry Alford all gone too soon. Although it’s been more than forty years since their murders, there’s a team of people fighting for their justices, like Kevo Meredith.
“They were all three in a vehicle and somehow some way were lured into a “pulling over” or “bumped into” to pull over or something to that effect”, said Kevo.
Kevo is a local business owner. When he and friend Carol Brown learned about the stories of these three ladies, they just knew they had to help. He’s interviewed the sisters of all three victims on his new podcast ‘Destination Justice” and is the appointed spokesperson for the families.
We start with the first victim, Angie Hill: In August of 1980, Angie was found murdered on the southside of Monroe, near an industrial park, close to Richwood Road #2.
“So, her vehicle was found in the Lakeshore area around Melvin Drive… There’s a shopping center there. It was found there as if Angie had just stepped out of the vehicle and vanished, engine running, lights on, radio playing and etc.”, Kevo explained.
Angie was planning a normal night out as she was leaving work. “She had worked at a convenience store which was right off what was then NLU, right off campus on Desiard, highway 80, Desiard….So she left there, took a coworker home, and was uh en route to take the night’s deposit, cash to the owner or boss’s house which she always did. This was not an uncommon thing and never made it there”, Kevo continued.
In 2021, we spoke to Angie’s sister Dorothy Hill. She’s heartbroken and wants answers. “I’m 64, that’s four decades, at best I may have two decades left, if I’m lucky I may have four, but we all know the last two of those won’t be pleasant. It’s not so much knowing the who, that would be wonderful, but more importantly the why”, said Dorothy.
Nine months after Angie’s murder, Kathy Whorton’s car was found abandoned, the engine running in the middle of the street and her body was found in south Monroe, just like Angie’s.
Join us next week on FOX 14 News at 9 and NBC 10 News at 10 as we take a look at Kathy Whorton’s case.
