HILLIARD — Columbus Grove middle school track and field standout Gavin Baxter had a big showing at the recent state track and field championships at Hilliard Darby High School. Baxter won all three of his events at the state meet for the Bulldogs.
Miller City ACME blanks Fort Jennings
MILLER CITY — Miller City scored twice in the fifth and sixth innings Tuesday to defeat Fort Jennings 4-0 in ACME baseball action. In a pitchers duel the Wildcats took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jack Wenzinger plated the first run of the game on a bases loaded fielders choice groundout before an error allowed B. Reyna to score from third base for a 2-0 lead.
Village of Bluffton discussing with residents about proposed income tax increase for safety services
BLUFFTON, OH (WLIO) - The Village of Bluffton began its public discussions with residents about a proposal to increase income taxes for safety services. According to Bluffton's 20-Year Safety Services Funding Forecast, just under $42 million of expenses will be needed by the village to support fire, EMS, and police vehicles, capital items, and a Bluffton full-time EMS. On the flip side, 20-year projections only forecast revenue just shy of $13 million, leaving village administrators to come up with almost $29 million in funding. Thus, the village is looking to increase the income tax by 0.4% for Bluffton residents in order to keep up with current and future demands.
Historic Model T makes trip through West Central Ohio on Lincoln Highway
GOMER, OHIO (WLIO) - A piece of Ford history rolled through our area on Monday as it recreated a trip that it made 100 years ago. Dan Groman shot video of the 10 millionth Ford Model T driving on the Lincoln Highway through Gomer Monday, after leaving Mansfield that morning. The historic vehicle is making the same coast-to-coast drive from New York to San Fransico on Lincoln highway that it made back in 1924 after it rolled off the assembly line. The trip is sponsored by the Lincoln Highway Association.

Delphos' Music in the Park series kicks off for the summer
DELPHOS, OH (WLIO) - The Delphos community pulled up their lawn chairs to enjoy live music. Sunday evening was the first of six concerts for the Delphos Rotary Club's 19th annual Music in the Park. The series features a mix of local bands and some from as far as Cleveland and Indiana. Each night, a different non-profit sells concessions to raise money for their organization, and the shows are always free thanks to over a dozen local sponsors. Many Delphos residents make it a tradition to get the family together for every show.

Post 63 blasts Westerville
OTTAWA — Ottawa's Legion baseball team wrapped up Pool Play in the TAWA Run Classic tournament Saturday with a big offensive show. In their final pool game Post 63 banged out 21 hits and scored 26 runs in a 26-5 win over the Westerville Junior Legion team 26-5 at Memorial Field. Ottawa finished pool play with a 2-0-1 record to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament Sunday morning.
