Sparta Girls Lax Takes Phillipsburg in H/W/S Quarterfinal Game
SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta girls lacrosse squad earned an easy pass to the semifinal round of the tri-county tournament with a 15-7 outing against Phillipsburg on Saturday. Uma Kowalski added nine to her season total of 61. Emily Reina netted two. PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - Easton Area high School won both track and field meets on Saturday at the Phillipsburg Middle School on Saturday with the boys winning 97-43 and the girl’s 106-34. “Despite the final score, I am very proud of our girl’s effort Friday versus Easton,”P’burg’s girl’s coach Rich Kiley said. “Sarah Bronico had a nice day with a first and two seconds and Sky Griesmeyer won an event and came in seconds in another. Voorhees holds on late, snaps losing skid to reach H/W/S semifinals
For the past two weeks, Voorhees has been close, but not close enough. A promising 4-2 start to the season faded into the depths of a five-game losing streak. The first loss to Hunterdon Central was by 10 goals. The four since were decided by three or fewer and that included two one-goal defeats.
Palisades & Granada Charter Girls Make History and Share 2024 CIF-LA City Section Team Titles
SCY (25y) Results on Meet Mobile: “2024 City CIF SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIP”. At the conclusion of the 2024 CIF LA City Section Championships on Saturday, there was a tie for the girls section team title as both Palisades and Granada Charter teams earned an identical 371.50 points. In essence, the Granada girls defended their team title while the Palisades also improved from their 2023 runner-up finish. On the boys’ side, Granada Charter was able to separate themselves to comfortably win the team title with 379 points, their first LA City section team title since 2001. Palisades was able to hold off Grover Cleveland for team runner-up by three points, 358 to 355.

After a high school baseball regular season during which the results were often indecipherable, it’s fitting that the Top 10 has come full circle. Liberty and North Hunterdon, which opened in the No. 1 and 2 spots, respectively, are back in those positions as the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, Colonial League and Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex quarterfinals approach this week.

MANVILLE – South Hunterdon High School’s baseball team looked poised to do something the Eagles hadn’t done since 1988. Manville prevented that from happening Friday. South needed a win at Manville and at Bound Brook May 16 to earn a share of the Skyland Conference Mountain Division title with Warren Hills. But Manville’s 5-3 win left the Eagles with only a long bus ride back to Lambertville. Warren Hills is the division champ.
