    TRACK AND FIELD RECAP: Easton Wins at Phillipsburg

    PHILLIPSBURG, NJ - Easton Area high School won both track and field meets on Saturday at the Phillipsburg Middle School on Saturday with the boys winning 97-43 and the girl’s 106-34.

    “Despite the final score, I am very proud of our girl’s effort Friday versus Easton,”P’burg’s girl’s coach Rich Kiley said. “Sarah Bronico had a nice day with a first and two seconds and Sky Griesmeyer won an event and came in seconds in another. We’re looking forward to seeing improvements in all events as we enter our championship meet season.”

    Girl’s meet

    Bronico, who earned a scholarship to continue her education and playing career in soccer at the next level, won the triple jump with a leap of 32-09.75 and took a pair of second place finishes in the 100-meter dash and long jump to highlight the Stateliners girl’s effort.

    P’burg’s Sky Anne Griesmeyer won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.73 and teamed with Kyla Wilson and Miilyah Gratz for a 2-3-4 finish in the 200-meter dash.

    Other second place finishers were Lily Snyder in the 800-meter run, Sophia Fischer in the pole vault and Emili Neto in the javelin event which saw Maddy Baylor finish third. Morgan Bewley came in the second in the shot put and Julie Hunt was third.

    Boys meet

    Cam Bohal won both the 110-meter hurdles (15.07) and 400-meter hurdles (8.93) to lead the Phillipsburg boys and Jacobi Pepingco came in first place in the 3200-meter run in a time of 10:37.08.

    Elvin Decius and Luke Depaolo took first and second in the 100-meter dash in times of 11.58 and 11.78, respectively, and Decius also won the 200-meter dash in 23.42.

    Finishing in second place was Ricky Krouse in the long jump, Christopher McGuinness in the 1600-meter run, Ed Adiele in the triple jump, and Weston Turdo in the javelin.
