Illinois woman sentenced to 3.5 years for transporting drugs on I-80 in Seward County
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A woman was sentenced Monday after she and three other women were caught transporting drugs on I-80 in Seward County in 2022. A judge sentenced Jennilee Janae Velez, 22, of Addison, Illinois, to 3.5 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and a quantity of oxycodone. Once she is released from prison, she will begin a two-year term of supervised released.

Two Huskers Named to Track and Field Big Ten Honors
(Lincoln, NE) – Two Nebraska Huskers athletes have been honored by the Big Ten with both Darius Luff and Tyus Wilson being named to Big Ten Honors for Nebraska. Darius Luff was named the Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after he earned a 13.25 in the 110-meter hurdles during the Drake Relays. This time broke the school record that he already held, and put him into the #1 spot in the NCAA. He also ranks fifth in the world with that time in the 110-meter hurdles. On the other side, Darius Luff is named for another Big Ten Honor after jumping 7’5″ in the high jump to earn the Drake Relays title. That moved him to #2 currently in the NCAA and ranks #5 in Nebraska Huskers history.

Husker offensive lineman enters transfer portal
A Nebraska offensive lineman has entered the transfer portal. Ru’Quan Buckley officially entered the portal earlier this week. Buckley started his Husker career as a defensive lineman who converted to an interior offensive lineman midway through the 2023 season. He is now Nebraska’s fourth portal entry this week. Linebacker Chief Borders, linebacker Korver Demman, and walk-on quarterback Jack Woche previously entered the transfer portal. Buckley, a three-star prospect in the class of 2021, came to Lincoln via Wyoming, Michigan. UNL Housing to replace room keys with NCards in the suites next fall
University of Nebraska-Lincoln students living in the suites next fall will have one less card to carry. University Housing will replace the locks in the Knoll Residential Center, University Suites and Eastside Suites over the summer to allow students to scan their NCard to enter instead of swiping a separate room key.
