Bucs survive Easton rally
EASTON — The bus carrying the Kent Island High boys lacrosse team had already left by the time Easton head coach Dennis Keenan emerged from the storage shed that serves as his team’s quasi locker room. “There’s a reason why they’re reigning champs,” Keenan said of the Buccaneers. One of the biggest reasons Monday was Kent Island didn’t give Drew Schmidt any room or angle to shoot in the dramatic...

Chesapeake baseball scores four first-inning runs in 4-3 regional final win over Mt. Hebron
Often in playoff baseball, a team can take some time to settle in. In Tuesday afternoon’s Class 3A South Region I final, Chesapeake bucked that trend. In wet, rainy conditions, the Cougars struck early with four first-inning runs. Dylan Adams and Keller Herzberger highlighted the rally with a pair of two-RBI singles. That early run support was enough as the Cougars held off multiple comeback attempts from top seed Mt. Hebron in a 4-3 win.

Falcon Girls Survive, Advance Past Linganore
Playoff season has no preference for how you win; it just cares that you do, in fact, win. Severna Park’s girls lacrosse team’s state quarterfinal tussle with Linganore on Wednesday featured a little bit of everything: a frenetic first quarter, a one-sided second quarter, eight yellow cards, both teams forced to play a player light for the much of the second half, a star player’s disqualification, both teams employing stall tactics at various times, and one team failing to score in the second half.
