Pair arrested on charges stemming from theft, car crash
GRASONVILLE, Md. – Two people were arrested Wednesday evening on theft and other charges. Deputies were called to Walgreens at around 5 p.m. for a reported theft. Arriving officers saw a vehicle returning to the location with two people inside matching the suspect descriptions. The vehicle then allegedly fled the area at a high rate of speed, leading the deputy on a chase. The vehicle drove through the Route 18 drawbridge traffic arm and over the partially open bridge. Deputies on the other side of the bridge found the vehicle after it crashed into the Waterman’s Monument at the corner of Main Street and Kent Narrows Way S. Witnesses told police that the suspects ran behind Fisherman’s Inn Restaurant.
Police issue all-clear order after bomb threat at Maryland State House
BALTIMORE -- The Maryland State House was evacuated due to a bomb threat Tuesday afternoon, according to the Annapolis Police Department.An emergency text alert was sent out to people subscribed to the State House complex alert system.The text alert read: "Maryland General Assembly Alert: State House BOMB THREAT. Please evacuate the area immediately, and please head home. Do not return. THIS IS NOT A DRILL," the Baltimore Banner reported.The governor was reportedly not at the State House at the time that the threat came in. Around 5:20, the Maryland Capitol Police issue an all-clear order for the campus. That emergency alert system was put into place after a similar incident in March, when an unidentified person called the Annapolis Police Department saying he was armed with a gun and was headed to the State House.
