High school football: NLL Buckeye, NWOAL titles at stake in Week 10
Fittingly, a league championship will be on the line when Whitmer meets Perrysburg in an eagerly awaited showdown in the regular-season finale on Friday night. Perrysburg (9-0), ranked No. 5 in the Division I state poll, hosts No. 10 ranked Whitmer (8-1) in what is sure to be an electric atmosphere at Steinecker Stadium. The programs have built up a rivalry since the Panthers joined the Northern Lakes League in 2023. “Both programs have been developed into two of the top programs in northwest Ohio,” Perrysburg head coach Dirk Conner said. “It’s fun to play a team of that caliber. It has brought out the best in both teams.” For the third time in four years, the NLL Buckeye Division title will be on the line in a huge Week 10 matchup. The teams are tied at the top of the standings with 4-0 records. “We’re extremely excited,” Whitmer head coach Justin Keller said. “It’s what we’ve talked about all year. Our goal has been to get one day better with hopes of putting ourselves in position to compete for a league title come week 10.” Perrysburg and Whitmer shared the 2025 NLL Buckeye title with matching 4-1 records. The Lucas County Health Department also has no restrictions in place. Students who remain at school will not participate in outdoor activities or recess Thursday, the district said. Parents must show photo identification and follow normal district procedures to sign their children out. All early departures will be excused absences.
